Dr. Wagner Santiago, DPM

Dr. Wagner G. Santiago was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and graduated from Southwest Miami High School. He went on to attend the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg on a soccer scholarship before earning his respiratory therapy license in Jacksonville, Florida. His passion for patient care eventually led him to pursue podiatric medicine, and he graduated with honors from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in North Miami Beach, earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM).


Dr. Santiago completed a three-year surgical residency at the Podiatry Hospital of Pittsburgh and West Penn Hospital, where he trained extensively in all areas of foot and ankle surgery. His experience includes forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction, as well as advanced diabetic limb salvage procedures.


Since 1999, Dr. Santiago has called Gastonia, North Carolina, home, where he has been caring for patients at Gaston Foot & Ankle Associates. Known for treating patients like family, he emphasizes compassion, education, and a personal approach to care.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and a member of the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society.



Outside of medicine, Dr. Santiago is guided by his faith and draws inspiration from his favorite scripture, Philippians 1:21: “For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.” He believes this perspective shapes both his approach to life and his work with patients..
