Do OTC corn pads really work?

Over the counter corn and callus pad removers contain up to 40% salicylic acid.

This can cause severe burning as well as an open wound. People at risk for this complication are diabetics, elderly, and those patients with poor circulation.  These patients  should not use these products! Younger patients who find it necessary to repeatedly apply corn and or callus removers would benefit greatly from an evaluation to determine what is causing the corn or callus to repeatedly reform. We can provide a solution to fix the problem rather than just treat the symptoms.
